Electro Voice DH2 Disassembly Instructions

Simple step by step instructions for removing the Electro Voice DH2 diaphragm.

Click on each picture for a larger image.

Step 1: Remove the DH2 assembly from the speaker cabinet.

Step 2: Uncrew the top horn mount counter-clockwise (leftwards) from the driver base.

Step 3: Mark the top diaphragm and bottom magnet to ensure proper positioning when reassembling.

Step 4: Remove the (6) screws that hold the magnet and diaphragm assembly together.

?Step 5: Carefully? remove the diaphragm assembly ?straight up? so that the coil does not become jammed in the gap.
CAUTION: When reassembling it is paramount that the care taken during disassembly be amplified when lowering the diaphragm assembly. Any side motion or cocked mating can damage the coil when entering the coil gap.

Step 6: The diaphragm is the blue tinted cone being secured by the 2 phillips screws.

CAUTION:Note the ?ears? of the diaphragm are not identical. The one which goes to the red terminal block is shaped somewhat like an old fashioned keyhole, while the other one which goes to the black terminal does not resemble a keyhole. The slots that receive the ears are different ?note this when reassembling.

The terminals will drop down when the screws are removed. Note the ear that has the red block (for reassmbly).

Step 7: Removing the diaphragm may require using a jack knife ?persuasion" at the ear area sice the diaphragm is a tight fit in its mounting recess.
Step 8: Once you have removed the diaphragm, mail it to:
